Batesville Dental Employee Jennifer Fullenkamp Sentenced for Embezzling Over $50,000 via Cash Payment Scheme

Jennifer Fullenkamp, an employee at Scheele Orthodontics in Batesville, Indiana, operated an embezzlement scheme from 2007 to 2022 by enticing patients to pay in cash with unauthorized substantial discounts, then depositing the cash into her personal checking account while adjusting patient balances in the dental practice's database to conceal the theft. She stole more than $50,000 over the 15-year period.[2]
Fullenkamp was arrested in August 2024 following a year-long investigation by Indiana State Police with FBI assistance, leading to charges of Theft and Corrupt Business Influence (both Level 5 felonies). She pleaded guilty to Theft in January 2025, with the other charge dismissed; Judge Ryan King sentenced her to five years in prison with one year suspended to probation on March 5, 2025. This case underscores the need for dental practice owners to implement cash handling protocols, regular audits, and database access controls to detect and prevent long-term employee theft.[2]
